Our Organizational Structure

The United African Youth Movement (UAYM) is organized into a robust framework that ensures effective governance, strategic decision-making, and impactful program delivery. Our structure facilitates coordination across the continent, allowing for unity and cohesive action at various levels of leadership.

1. Council of Leaders (COL)
The COL is the highest decision-making body of UAYM, consisting of:

  • Chairperson: Leads the organization and oversees strategic initiatives.
  • Vice-Chairperson: Supports the Chairperson and acts in their absence.
  • Secretary-General: Manages administrative tasks and ensures proper record-keeping.
  • Treasurer: Oversees financial matters and ensures transparency.
  • Regional Representatives: Serve as key liaisons within their respective sub-regions.
  • Legal Adviser: Provides guidance on legal matters and ensures adherence to UAYM’s constitution.

2. Sub-Regional Divisions
UAYM is divided into sub-regions: West Africa, East Africa, Central Africa, Southern Africa, and Northern Africa. Each sub-region has:

  • Chairperson: Coordinates the activities within the sub-region.
  • Vice-Chairperson: Assists and stands in for the Chairperson.
  • Secretary: Manages communication and record-keeping at the sub-regional level.

3. National and State Levels
Each country within a sub-region is represented at the national level, which is further divided into states:

  • State Representatives: Oversee the implementation of UAYM programs at the state level.
  • Zonal Coordinators: Operate within smaller geographic zones and report to state representatives.

4. Committees and Specialized Groups
UAYM has various committees and specialized teams to address specific focus areas, such as:

  • Education and Skills Development Committee
  • Cultural Heritage Committee
  • Advocacy and Policy Committee
  • Fundraising and Financial Management Committee

These committees ensure that UAYM’s objectives, such as education promotion, leadership training, and youth advocacy, are met effectively.

5. General Assembly and Conferences
The General Assembly includes all members and serves as a platform for broader participation and feedback. It helps set strategic priorities and is convened for annual or special meetings to discuss UAYM’s direction.
